The 627th Heavy Dive Team is a 25-diver unit of the Army National Guard stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. We have members from as far away as California and ranging in age from 21 to 45. Some team members work as commercial divers or science divers; others are college students or have other professions. 

   1LT Terrence Tysall, Executive Officer of the 627th, was featured in an article on Marine Biology on wired.com, the website of Wired magazine.

   Tysall, 43, is a graduate student and instructor in Marine Biology at Texas A&M University Galveston. Earlier this year, Tysall and other scientists at the university discovered a new species of cave-dwelling crustacean in a deep lava tube in the Canary Islands, off the coast of Africa.
